Laundry 101 taught by Elder Andersen

WEEK 25:

1. Throw all clothes in the wash.  TIP: add extra soap for extra freshness. 10 min
2. Take clothes out, rinse them out in the shower, making sure to rinse the soap out. 5 min
3. Ring out clothes and put them in the dryer for 10 min
4. Wear clothes.

These are the exact steps I took this morning, as I was stressing whether or not I'd have to wear missionary cloths to the beach. And it was a success.

Right now we are going to Waiao Beach to play Ultimate Frisbee.

Me and Elder Muller were blessed with the opportunity to preform in Sacrament. We put in much practice, using every singing skill that we thought we had. A good performance would result in a better relationship with every church member that attended. Towards the end of our practices, we sounded good for 2 tone deaf missionaries. I was excited. I could feel the blessings rolling in the second we stepped to the pulpit that Sunday. The music started, hymn 293, Love at Home. With all my might, I opened my mouth and couldn't make it through the first verse with serious voice cracks and awkward octave changes. We went from soprano to base in about .32 nanoseconds. Now this was a performance to remember. By the time the song ended, everyone was in tears.... holding back their laughter.

During these last 2 weeks, we have been teaching many lessons and working hard to keep daily contact with everyone. We still have 7 baptismal dates for the end of this month and I can't wait for that baptismal week! I'm praying that they will all fall through with it!

I'd like to express my apologies to every one of my 4 avid readers reading my email right now. Last week my phone died before I could write my email.

Last week, for exercise time I was able to go on exchanges with Elder Diener and go on a hike in Songshan. We had an awesome view of Taipei 101. And for P-Day we went on another hike on top of a mountain near our house, which overlooked Taipei AND Jilong. Super cool hikes. Unfortunately this is all I remember from last week.

We have been teaching this awesome family for the past couple weeks and they have the cutest baby. They have been the most progressing. I'm super glad they have been super interested and I really think it can make there life that much better

Until next week.

White Rice

WEEK 23:

The more I live in Jilong, the crazier it gets.

The one way streets make it very hard to navigate when I am biking. Luckily, I had a fun experience trying to find my way home when me and my companion got separated. I took a wrong turn while biking. We had to run home, which I thought would be simple. Wrong. The streets are just small enough that it's impossible to Bike against traffic. All I knew was that we lived right next to a 4 story McDonald's. I was able to use some of my Chinese to ask where this McDonald's is. I got home and my companion was worried because he thought I wouldn't know how to get home. So the moral of this story: McDonald's Sundays and chicken nuggets are more then just healthy foods, they are my sense of direction.

Today we were able to go to the beach. There was this hike were we had to climb over large rocks and the view was beautiful (if you have selective vision and not see all the garbage that has collected). We walked around a couple hours. There was only a 14% of rain and of course, it poured. Rained harder than any day in Carlsbad. Keeling does have the nickname rain city. We brought one of our investigators and while it was railing she was saying how I looked really romantic, like in movies. Flirt to convert. This is just one of my many stories of white fever.

Last Sunday we were able to get 13 investigators to church. To put that into perspective, in ankang the most investigators we got were 2. People in jilong tend to be just a little nicer in keeping there word which is awesome. We also have a large pool of investigators. We are always busy teaching.

From Elder Andersen's Mom:  Not sure why this entry is titled "White Rice".  Just what Elder Andersen titled it.  :)
